Actually, several people decided somewhere that Anakin just re-built him, he didn't actually create him.

Recently on StarWars.com in the Jedi Council section, it explained that the body frame Anakin built C-3PO from was over 80 years old, thus making the older age true.

This isn't a slipup, this chronology was correct until George Lucas, in his infinite wisdom, decided to add the plot twist of Anakin creating C-3PO, which screwed up the whole chronology of the series. This was almost as bad as his decision to add Jar Jar and the whole "midi-chlorian" concept.

The problem here is that Uncle George can do whatever the hell he wants to and ignore any books that have been put out. While the books may have been approved by Lucasfilm, it doesn't mean they fit in with the movies. Plus at the time that book came out, who knew there would be more movies??

Ha ha ha ha!Yes in George Lucas's biography he talks about this but I think this counts as a mistake.
