Pokemon - Pidgeotto and Pidgey! Not Pidgeot!
1) Watch the scene where Ash is telling Falkner about his Pidgeot.
2) Notice that during the flashback he says that the Fearow was attcking a bunch of Pidgeot. That was incorrect. Watch the episode Pallet Party Panic and you'll see that it was not a bunch of Pidgeot, but a few Pidgey and Pidgeotto, which was the reason that Ash left Pidgeot.
Special Requirements:
The episode Fighting Flyer with Fire. The Flashback scene.

Remember when Ash said when he comes back from the Johto League? He forgot to meet it after coming from the Orange Islands!

Ash said that he would come back for it after he ran his errand at the Orange Islands. He got side tracked and forgot about it. Oh well, I bet Pidgeot didn't complain any.

Ash forgot all about his pidgeot, even after he promised he would come back for it.

This crops up a lot in the Pokémon series. In Japan, the evolution chain for Pidgey was Pidgey---Pidgeot---Pidgeotto. That could be the cause.

Actually, the problem was with the timing. If Ash had said, "It was attacking a bunch of Pidgey and Pidgeotto", then his line would have extended past the end of the flashback.
