When George Bailey enters the building and loan, just before he loans Violet Bikes the $20.00, he is carrying a wreath on his right arm. When uncle Billy tells him his brother is on the phone, Gearge flips the wreath on the desk behind him and grabs the phone. When the scene is cut, the wreath magically appears on his arm.
