For the big closing shot, West and Gordon dramatically drive the Tarantula off to Washington, heading east into the setting sun. Ummm, the sun doesn't set in the east.

I am glad someone else noticed this. The first time I watched this movie was on video with a bunch of friends. When the final scene came on I said "where the heck are they going?" Everyone stared at me until I explained that the sun sets in the west and that they were supposed to heading (east) to Washington DC.

Yeah, I noticed the same thing but didn't think anyone else did.

I noticed this too! Even if it isn't nighttime, they're in, what, New Mexico or something? So they shouldn't be heading straight east, and definitely not west. That's a bad mistake if I noticed it.

Who says this is not the following morning, they don't actually say that they are riding into the west. Thats just a romanticised notion.
