Carey, Mariah - The King of Jordan
During an interview, it was brought to her attention that the King of Jordan passed away. This is something along the line of what she said:
"Oh, what a tragedy! He did so much for all the little children with his charity work, and it will be a big loss to the world of basketball."
Sorry, lost the newspaper article with exactly what she said; but this is close enough!

Sorry to burst your bubble, there, but it isn't true. See for more information. It seems to have started as a joke posted on a newsgroup. Carey also supposedly said some boneheaded things about starving children that were actually part of a parody article from Cupcake.

I can't believe anyone would ever think that she actually made comment mentioned above. Why the heck would anyone ask her that question in the first place?

Now that has to be the fakest of fake. I don't think anyone can be that stupid. I think Mariah Carey is old enough now to know the difference between Michael Jordan and the King of Jordan!

This is one of the WORST slip ups I've ever read. I know many people don't care for Mariah Carey, but come on! And to say you cant find the article you read that in??? I'm a big Mariah fan...and normally wouldn't care to respond to these, but this one just irked me.

Another boner attributed to the mentatively-challenged Ms. Carey concerns the starving in Ethiopia. When asked to comment on how she felt about the crisis, she allegedly says that she was envious of them. She quickly followed that by saying she was only envious of the fact that they were so thin; she wasn't too impressed by all the flies, disease, and death.
