Now and Then - Long Jump
Fairly early in the movie, Sam looks down from her window to watch her father pack his car and leave. It is very obvious that her room is on the second floor of the house. Later that night, when she is sneaking out of her room to meet the other girls in the cemetery, she opens her window and jumps out. It would DEFINITELY be impossible to jump from the second floor of her house to the ground and not be injured.

Actually, if you look at the movie, she jumps from her second-story room to another roof, and then it goes to a different screen! There is your answer.

Well, I jump out of airplanes (I'm a paratrooper) and hit the ground with force equivilent to jumping out of a second story window (about 15 feet), and I'm in one piece!

I had just assumed that she climbed down the drain pipe. Kids do it all the time when sneaking out. I don't think that's a slip-up at all.
