Redwall - The Amazing Sex-Changing Moles
In The Pearls of Lutra, Diggum the molemaid is repeatedly stated to be female. In The Long Patrol, the same mole grows up to be Foremole, but is instead claimed to be male.
In addition, Pearls of Lutra defined Diggum's best friend Gurrbowl as a male. In The Long Patrol, Gurrbowl was switched as well, having become a honest FEMALE molewife and Redwall's cellarkeeper.
Special Requirements:
It's best that you have access to both The Pearls of Lutra and The Long Patrol. But then, you could just take my word for it. O_o

AGAIN, another mistake from the publisher, I think. Actually it may have been a mistake from BJ himself, but you should check out Snowfur's Redwall Encyclopedia, it gives an explanation there if you look under either of them in "The Long Patrol" chapter.

I guess that this is a pitfall when using fantasy names; without notes it makes it more difficult to remember what gender the characters are. On the other hand, it's still no excuse not to know your characters well enough.

Maybe Gurrbowl had a daughter and named her Gurrbowl, and Diggum had a son and named him Diggum, and that's how they amazingly switched genders. Wonder if Matthias ever knew about this...
