Ghost - Dead Sam Grabs a Chair
In the scene where Sam has just died, and he is now at the hospital, he sits down in a chair next to an old man who is also a ghost. He talks to the other man for a few minutes, and then the man disappears. Sam is so shocked that he jumps up from the chair in search of this other man, but if you watch when he jumps out of the chair, he grabs the arm rest with his right hand. In fact you can even hear his hand slap against the arm rest because he is in such a hurry.

The only reason Sam couldn't move or touch solid objects is because he had a preconceived notion that ghosts cannot do these things. On the occasions that he forgot this he could touch solid things. p.s.-if ghosts cannot be supported by solid objects wouldn't they just slip through the surface of the earth?

I don't know about anyone else, but the fact that Sam sat in the chair to begin with was enough for me, oh my God!, he tapped the arm on his way up!

If I recall correctly the weird gut taught him that to move stuff you have to be mad or something like this, well Sam got a little scared and was able to hold the chair. Although I could be wrong considering I haven't seen it in a while.

Jade is exactly right. that is what I was thinking during the entire movie. I was actually hoping that this movie would be shown on Mystery Science 3000

What you're saying is dumb because if they made ghost go floors than it wouldn't be much of a movie.
