In The Company of Men - Boy, My Arm Is Tired
The makers of "In the Company of Men" must have been short on film because they left in a pretty big mistake when one of the guys holding the overhead microphone let it fall into view of the filming camera.
The microphone comes into view during a sequence in a bedroom a little more than half way through the movie.
Now, they either knew it had happened and left it in because it being a small budget film they couldn't afford to reshoot the scene. Or they just didn't notice all together! Either way, that dangaling menace of a microphone lends more to audience laughter than it does the deep emotional dexterity the actors were after.
Special Requirements:
You may need to view a Letterboxed edition to see the dangaling menace.

No offense to firstcontact, but maybe there should be a moratorium on this sort of slipup; you know, boom shots & (to a lesser extent) shiny things reflecting the camera 'cause they've been around forever & are boring due to their frequency. Who agrees with me?

I disagree. If anything this sort of mistake is one of two mistakes that are INEXCUSABLE Come on every movie viewer knows First WATCH the boom microphones and Second Watch every mirror and glass for Camera Reflections I mean how is it these things happen :( If anything the movies out now that have these mistakes are more deplorable and unforgivable seeing as how the movie MAKERS grew up on movies and SHOULD have these things as a second nature. you know what I mean.
