What's makes this slipup even funnier is that not only did they mispell both stegosaurus and tyrannosaurus, they got the name 'metriacanthosaurus' right!

This could have been a small joke in the film, as in some scientist miss-spelt the most common Dino, but got the most difficult of the species right. Who knows, I think this was a slip up, but maybe Spielberg made a joke on the scientists in the park.

I think they did it on purpose, to illustrate that the scientists didn't know or care what they were messing around with. They misspelled the most common dino name so the audience would notice (which we did), but didn't bother with those that most people wouldn't know how to spell anyway.
