Hey, the shorts were always yellow. If you look when he takes them out of the package, they may look orange because of his neon clock hanging above his bed, the light from the neon on the clock reflects onto the shorts making them look orange, but they are yellow, and the next day they are yellow.

I think that they remain yellow throughout the whole movie, also when they are in the gym at the basketball game, Chase says he was going to get a soda but then he comes back after about a minute and he doesn't have a soda.

Actually, they DID change. If you look when she gives him the present, he unwraps it and it's orange. Then, the next day, all the guys are on the cliff and two are wearing orange shorts and two are wearing yellow. BUT I cant think of his name, but Melissa Joan Hart's boyfriend is wearing the wrong color. He is wearing yellow!!!!
