During the scene where Kirk and the woman from the Cetacean Institute have dinner at the Italian restaurant ("No, I'm from Iowa, I only work in outer space ..."), watch the candle in the center of the table as the shot moves back and forth between the actors. One moment it will be almost three-quarters burned, the next it will be almost new. Back and forth, back and forth ... it's pretty funny.
