Go to the part in the movie when Cher is robbed and her purse is taken. It maybe switches scenes (I can't remember.) But anyway, she goes to call Josh. She picks up the phone and dials his number. She did not put money in the pay phone.
My big question about all of this is why the heck doesn't she call Dionne's cell phone?! Cher says she can't call D because she doesn't know the number of the party. But we see D talking to Murray's mom on her cell phone. Stupid? I think so...

I think she called collect. They don't show EVERY part of every conversation. Yes, technically, he would've had to of heard "do you...", but when he said, "hello", it skipped back to Cher. They could've just cut it. Who knows.

she might not have known his number, especially if she always had them saved on her phone and never had to dial to reach him. What's the point of memorizing a number when it can be put into a directory?

Exactly, she did have her cell phone (Di) and and I just now realized after you said that that she didn't put money in nor did it show her calling collect! Plus she never had her purse in the 1st place, so she couldn't have possibly had any change on her...besides why would she have change, I was under the assumption she only carried her cell and credit cards...

Well while on the subject of phones... I noticed that every time Cher put her antenna down on her phone she broke it, but in the next scene her phone was fixed.
