In the mini series Captains and the Kings. The lead character Joseph Armagh has 4 children, one is a daughter ann Marie... she falls in love with her step grandmother's son Courtney. As far as they know there is no blood connection. Courtney asks for her hand in marriage and finds out through Joseph that he is the illegitimate son of Ann Marie's grandfather and it's against the law to marry blood relations. In the mean time Ann Marie rushes to tell her mother of the upcoming marriage finds out the same thing from her mother. she rushes out in shock on a horse and is injured and in a coma. Later,Courtney becomes enraged with Joseph and in the scene says a line something like he wants to see his sister.. If he's the blood son of her grandfather wouldn't she be his niece not his sister. (half niece)
