Kelly's Heroes - Very Bad Math
Don Rickles( Crap-game) is sitting in the Army truck after they have robbed the bank of it's gold. After they have paid Donald Sutherland(Oddball), his tank crew and the Nazi tank crew their shares, he says to 1 of the guys loading the truck with the gold, "At $8,400 a box and we have 125 boxes left, how much does that leave us? The soldier says 10.5 million dollars and split between 12 people would be $875,000 a piece. The math does NOT add up!! $8,400 multiplied by 125 equals $1.05 million dollars, NOT 10.5 million dollars!

First, are we sure Crapgame didn't say $84,000 a box instead of $8,400? If he DID say $8,400, then he made the same mistake at HQ, when he got a price for gold, did some math and came up with $1.6 million... then checked his math and got $16 million. Which begs the question, what was he doing in Supply and Logistics if he can't do simple multiplication? Still... there are 10 men in the two tank crews. If their share left $1.05 million, then the entire take would have been only slightly less than TWICE that, or around TWO million dollars' worth. So I'm thinking that Crapgame AND the guy loading the truck misplaced a decimal place. But since they were both doing it in their heads... the remaining shares WERE, in fact, $10.5 mill. Which in turn means that each tanker got about $875,000 each... less whatever the German sergeant wanted for his tank.
