An Air Force investigator is a key part of this episode: his uniform is incorrect:

1-He is an officer; a Liutenant. His bars are placed in the middle of his shoulder boards, not at the end where they are supposed to go.

2-He is wearing US badgiing on his lapels: they are in a cricle as only used by enlisted men and not an officer that he is (officers just have the US without the circle).

3-His Garrison cap is that of an enlisted man, not of an officer (the eagle is in a circle, an officer's cap the eagle is not in a circle. It also does not have a silver band of an officer but the black leather band of an enlisted man)
