Early in the movie, when the first monk goes to see the Russian fencer, look at the flag that is at the end of this corridor next to the doorway (you can pause but it is in shot for a while).

Bearing in mind the film is set in 1925, the white, blue and red flag was not used between 1917 and 1991. The Flag of the Soviet Union was used (Hammer and Sickle).
