Terminator Salvation - Kyle Reece
Skynet is after Kyle Reece, father of John connor, he is their primary target.
Skynet capures Kyle Reece, and identifies him as Kyle Reece, John Connor's father.
Instead of killing Reece, ensuring victory, as John Connor cannot exist, Skynet uses Reece as bait, to lure Connor in to a trap.
and even IF skynet wanted to kill Connor, to make doubly sure of its success, why not put a bomb in Reece's Cell, not a T-800, which, as proven by the first film, and, by the logic Connor is not dead/non-existant, CAN be killed by humans.

Because then there'd be no movie. Logical flaws in characters or plot are jot slip ups. That's why, when entering a new slip up, the makers of this site ask certain questions. "Can you think of a plausible explanation for this 'mistake', even an unlikely one? If so, it's not a Slip-Up." and "Was your Slip-Up done on purpose, even if you don't think it makes sense? Things done by the writers/directors ON PURPOSE, even if they don't make logical sense, aren't Slip-Ups." People/characters (even computers like SkyNet) don't always do the absolute most logical thing. They make mistakes. Therefore this isn't a slip up.
