Dirty Harry - Did I Fire 5 or 6 Shots?
As the bank robber lays wounded on the ground and debating whether to go for his gun, Callahan says to him, "Ah, ah. I know what you're thinking. Did he fire 5 shots or 6?" After the robber tells Callahan that "...I gots to know." Callahan points the gun at him and "fires" a blank, implying that he fired all 6 shots. If you count Callahan's shots from his first, he only fires four! Whre are the other two or did he only have 4 to begin with?

I used to think he only fires 4 shots too, but after watching the movie on DVD I realized he actually does fire 6. Before I saw it on DVD, I only saw that scene on television. Maybe it has something to do with watching the movie on television why it only shows 4. Anyway, he fires a shot at the first guy after yelling halt and the guy shoots at Harry with a shotgun. The second shot is at the guy diving into the car. The third shot is one that can be easy to miss. The viewpoint is from inside the car and Harry's third shot can be hard to hear. Then Harry fires 2 times at the car as it is speeding at him. Then he fires his last shot at the guy who jumps out of the crashed car. I'm glad I caught all 6 of his shots because it's pretty bad when you think the people making the movie tried to trick you.

Yeah, I don't know of any cop who would approach a wounded, but still dangerous, criminal without pausing to reload his own weapon. Oh well, it's only a movie.
