Apocalypto - Solar Eclipse, Then Full Moon
Our protagonist was saved from ceremonial sacrifice by a total solar eclipse, which happens when the moon is between the earth and the sun. Fast-forward several scenes later to his wife and son waiting in the dry well, and the full moon is shown in the night sky. A full moon occurs when the earth is roughly between the sun and the moon. Solar eclipses happen only at the time of the new moon.
