Bourne Identity, The - The Not-so-Magic of Movies... Meter Truck Duck
About 11 mins into the film, there is a scene of Jason riding back to shore on a boat. They arrive at the pier and Jason begins to walk away. As he does, a little meter maid type vehicle drives by. At the same time, two people cross in front of the foreground. At that moment Jason Bourne appears to disappear.
However, if you watch very closely, as the people cross in front of the camera you will see Matt Damon (probably instructed by the director) duck down and hop on to the side of the meter truck. He and his red jacket are visible at the driver's side of the vehicle as it drives off the screen. Who needs high budget camera trickery, when you can just duck!!?

I think it was suppose to give the illusion that he disappeared. Kinda like when a bus drives by and the person on the opposite side of the street is now gone. I don't really think there was any intense psychological thinking that went into this on the part of the writers or director. It was just a cheap way to make him "vanish" without stopping the take....

Haha. I know the effect their trying to get but it's really funny when you see it. He ducks then runs beside the truck.

The reason for this shot is the ability of Bourne to blend in. At this point in the film he does not realise why he does this, he just does. Which is why it should create a question mark for the audeince.
