When Ethan and Captain Pike are settling down for the night, after visiting Futterman, Ethan builds up the fire with lots of big logs. So much so that Pikey complained. Yet after the shootout, the fire is obviously much smaller. Even if there was a passage of time, there is no evidence that a big fire was ever there; ashes, burnt ground or anything.
