My Cousin Vinny - Defense is Wrong
In the court room scene when "Lisa" is on the witness stand, a reference is made about the type of car etc. that was used in the crime. Both Vinny and Lisa comment that the "defense is wrong!" When it should be the "Prosecution is wrong." They are the defense, if they are wrong, they would lose the case.
You are wrong...I do not think you have studied law or been to law school or paid attention to the arguments. Gambini(or Jerry Gallo)has requested to treat Lisa as a hostile witness, which allows him to ask leading questions. He has recognized that the prosecution has misidentified the actual car and perpetrators of the crime, who drove mint green 1963 pontiac tempest. The defendants drove 1964 buick skylark convertible which resembles the cars of the actual killers. The burden of proof rests with the prosecution, not the defense. He only has to show reasonable doubt, and the prosecution loses the case. The defense reacts to the charges and evidence produced by the prosecution, thereby forcing prosecuter Trotter to move for a dismissal.

Were you even paying attention to the questioning? They were referring to the defense's theory that two different sets of guys driving identical metallic mint green 1964 Buick Skylark convertibles were both at the Sac-O-Suds. And they (the defense) were WRONG because the real perpetrators were driving a 1963 Pontiac Tempest.

This is not a slip up. The lines leading to this statement were to the effect that 'it has been argued by the defense that two sets of guys in two similar cars'. Vinnie was making a point that his case was wrong and that there was another explaination.

Actually, that statement was made by Miss Vito to point out that the defense was indeed wrong...remember, Vinny's defense was that two sets of guys were at the Sack O' Suds at the same time, driving identical metallic mint green 1964 Buick Skylark convertibles. He showed Miss Vito the picture and she told him that the defense was wrong...she then went on to detail how it wasn't a Buick Skylard at all...it was a 1963 Pontiac Tempest that left the burn-out rubber marks. Therefore, "The defense is wrong," was used to capture the rapt attention of everyone in the courtroom...thus ensuring they heard the REAL defense.
