When Jack finds out he has Mel's phone, he gives her a call (she has HIS phone). She says how did you know my number? He tells her they've got the wrong phones. So he gives her a message from her mother. Then she gives HIM a message - " you've got a press conference at five". How did she not know she had his phone, if she was clearly taking messages for him on it?
