In the scene where Jim and his mom have the argument and she tells him to get out of the apartment, he leaves and goes outside. His mom then opens the apartment window and throws out a trophy which clearly lands on the floor BEHIND him.

Jim then lights a cigarette, walks FORWARD and picks the trophy up off the floor before putting in the nearest bin. Ooops!
