In the part of the film where they are in Rachel's mom's house and down in the basement, when the fire breaks out, they run deeper into the basement and push the door closed from the inside to keep the fire out. It is one of those typed of doors that doesn't swing both ways and has a solid frame. When they show them coming out of the cellar, Ray pushes the same door outwards, when if you had to close it by pushing, you should have to open it pulling.
