Stargate SG-1 - Gate Symbol Change
Okay, in the episode where Carter and O'Neill get sent to the Stargate in Antarctica, they do not recognize that it is a Stargate on Earth for the very simple fact that the point of origin symbol on the gate is not the Pyramid+Sun, but instead some very complex-looking symbol. The main point is that it is NOT the well-known symbol of the show. However, after the Stargate in the SGC is teleported up onto Thor's ship, and the ship crashes, and the Beta Gate (from Antarctica) is substituted in the SGC, oddly enough the symbol for point of origin is now the Pyramid+Sun, not the weird complex symbol. If it had been that way originally, Carter and O'Neill would have known they were in Antarctica that one time.

I believe the point of origin would actually change for each Stargate, not each planet. Therefore, while in Antarctica the point of origin would be different. After the gate is connected to the Dialing computer in the US the point of origin would change back because the dialing computer was created to replace the original DHD.

Yeah, I noticed that too. It happens in a lot of other episodes as well. If you look on other planets stargates they all have the pyramid symbol on them. Now I thought that other worlds gates didn't have that symbol, and instead they had their own. (God, I sound like such a nerd.) On the other hand, I don't think it's a slip-up. I guess the crew can't just change the symbol on the gate when it's on location.
