Vertical Limit - Nitroglycerin Puddle.
In the scene where they are about to rescue the trapped climbers in the crevice, they pour nitroglycerin into a spot that they dug into the ice. Nitroglycerin has a high freezing point of 55 degrees Fahrenheit, after which point it becomes "desensitized" and non-explosive until thawed. It was obviously cold on the mountain, so the nitroglycerin should not have detonated.
