I believe this is supposed to be force running because in the next shot thay are way down at the end of the corridor.

My poor young fools you have failed to realise that these particular Jedi are not 'cool', the are in fact 'wooden'. I aggree that any cool Jedi should be left uncritisised but Liam Neesan hadn't even seen Star Wars before he agreed to do Phantom, he looked like he could do with an adrenalin shot for the whole film, good ridance!

Maybe George was trying to make it feel a little more real and had Qui-gon down as a toker. You know, lacking motivation, monotone voice and boy did his mind wander near the end there.

Whether jedi can run fast is irrelevant. The point is that they run but their lightsabers don't run with them.

I noticed that too... I saw that they seemed to jump from one side of the screen to another, so I freeze-framed it. I felt proud of myself. But now I guess it turns out that I'm not the only one who saw it.

Perhaps this "Force Running" is actually faster than the speed of light, maybe somekind of "warp". That would explain why the Jedis vanished but there blades stayed for a moment. Either way, I think its kind of cool. I noticed it when I watched the disk, but I didn't notice the fact that the blades stayed by they didn't, until it was pointed out here. Then I actually looked at the sequence frame by frame.

Okay, I just finished running this scene through slow motion, the sabers do move with the jedi. First the jedi and their sabers are dead center of the door, then the jedi are to the right of the door as it explodes in a shower of sparks... along with thier sabers. It's hard to see their forms as they appear to be slightly transparent. Looking at the scene on pause right now, I can actually see the edge of the door through Qui-Gon's image. So the sabers are actually moving with the jedi.
