Go towards the end of the movie, where the witches are chasing Max in the car. As "Winnifred" flies next to his window she says "Let me see your driver's permit." How is it that she didn't know what the "black river" was, but she knew that an underage boy could not drive without a learner's permit/license? I don't think there were any DMV's in the 17/18th century.
