Charmed - Victor....Halliwell?
You know that the three sisters' last name is Halliwell. Well, in "I've got you under my skin" at the beginning during the credits, you are told that their father's name is Victor Halliwell. But, in "That 70's Episode", their mother who's name is Patty Halliell, and their grandmother named Penny Halliwell are talking. Penny says that Patty never took Victor's last name. But somehow, both Patty and Victor have the same last name, as do their three children. Makes you wonder...

I wrote this slip up, and I realized that I slipped up. The episode title is not I've Got You Under My Skin, it is Thank You For Not Morphing.

My guess is tradition. "Tradition" of witches is a female only thing, so I would thing the women pass down their name instead of the fathers, at least privately.

In the most recent episode on 2/22/01 there is actually a quick comment regarding name changes when marrying... Grandma Halliwell calls Piper "Mrs. Halliwell," then adds, "a Halliwell never changes her name." thats all.

But really that makes you think. If a Halliwell never changes her name then how did the name change from Warren to Halliwell in the first place. And i think that the person who posted this slip up meant that how could Victor have the last name Halliwell as well as Patty if she wasn't allowed to have it in the first place.

You are all wrong. His name isn't Halliwell.... in the episode with the Ice Cream truck, Piper is at the Bay Tech building and asks if the lady knows where Victor is staying. During that, she says his last name (I don't remember what it was), but it wasn't Halliwell, it started with a "B"

Phellicia, you are wrong, in that episode they do call Victor Halliwell, in the later episode they change his last name.

In the ice-cream truck episode Piper says his last name is Bennett. Just thought you'd like to know.

In one of the recent episodes, Leo calls him Mr. Bennett. I THINK it was the episode where Phoebe gets Bo's injuries (the west...).

Yes, I do remember them calling him Bennet, but they did also call Halliwell also, so it is a slip-up. But they did fix later in the series.

Victor probably took Patty's name when they were together since she wasn't aloud to give up her name, and he probably changed it back to his original last name when the two of them broke up.
