Envy - Unlikely Death

In the movie Envy, fast forward to the part where Tim gets drunk and shoots a horse with an arrow. When the arrow hits the horse, the horse falls onto it's left side but THE ARROW'S ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF WHERE IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN!! Was the arrow like a boomerang or was the director just an idiot?
