In the first big sword fight between Jack Sparrow and Will Turner, just after Jack disarms Will and says, "and now, you have no weapon," Will turns around and grabs the almost flaming hot metal stick out of the fire and he starts fighting Jack with it. If you look closely, preferably put the DVD on slow motion, you can see the wire that was used to make the top of the stick orange going up Will's sleeve.
