Fright Night - Suicicide Attempt?
In the very beginnging of the movie, where Charlie and Amy are watching the show about Peter Vincent, the vampire killer, you see Mr. Vincent going toward a vampire with a stake in his hand, and another piece of wood to hammer the stake in the vampires heart. .if you look closely at the stake he is holding, he is holding it backwards! the sharp end, he has pointed right at his head instead of the flat end! maybe he was trying to kill himself!

Fright night is a Horror/comedy, what they were likely trying to do was have a funny little piece of B movie cheesiness by including the sort of slip up that you would see in a B movie, since the movie tv show is an Elvira mistress of the dark B movie sort of thing.
