This slipup occurs when Gandalf is talking to Saruman, and they are about to fight. Notice when Gandalf says, "Tell me, friend, whe did Saruman the Wise abandon reason for madness??" on "Madness" he switches his staff to his right hand. But Saruman is too quick for him and throws him against the wall. But wait! The staff is back in Gandalf's left hand.
