Courage Under Fire - Not Quite Accurate
1.) During the tank battle scene, there will be some M1 tanks. In a battle, the drivers hatch must be Closed! The drivers of these tanks are exposed to enemy fire which is a big NO NO in the U.S. ARMY.
2.) Another thing I found was that the tank that Denzel is in, is suppose to be an M1 with the 105mm cannon, (you can tell by the loading gate on the breech of the gun). Denzels machine gun is a Browning M2 .50 cal Flex which has handles on the back and is meant to be fired from the out side of the turret. The M1A2 is the only M1 series tank that uses the M2 Flex (to be fired from outside of the turret). The M1 and M1A1 used a different version of the M2 .50 that does not have the handles, (fired from the inside). So somebody tried to make it look accurate but it was not good enough! I know they did not use actual M1 Abrahms tanks but as a former 19K (Armor crew member), I like accuracy when it comes to my tank. HOOAAH!!
