When you put in the movie, go to the scene where the college professor is at the Pentagon explaining to the military leaders why the world is going to end in a year. (this scene is pretty early in the film) To demonstrate how the earth would look if the electromagnetic field collapsed, he puts a peach on a fork and ignites some "air freshener" as Dr. Zimsky sprays it at the peach. At the conclusion of his little demonstration, the college professor tosses the peach into a nearby glass of water. Just before he tosses the peach into the water, the skin on the fruit did NOT appear to be burned. However, a split second later...in the water glass, that same peach was cracked and badly charred.
