Excellent catch! I noticed this too; in fact, I thought that the two searchers would simply head for the plume of smoke once they were in the library, but there was none to be seen!! On a side note, I laughed aloud when they were wondering what to burn and had to resort to books. They could have started the fire with books, but did they fail to notice that EVERY piece of furniture in the library is made of wood? Also, they let the fire die down pretty quick... when the cold blast is coming, there was merely a tickle of flame in the fireplace... wouldn't someone have kept this burning a little more because they knew what was coming. Trash movie, by the way.

good catch on the fire phreak. also, if they were really burning books, the books would go up in flames extremely fast. they had to have burned almost every book in that place in order to keep that fire burning. ever see paper burn? it burns faster than anything else i know.
