In the animated series, in the episode called "Hexcaliber", you can see a book turn to dust then reappear. When Sabrina goes to get her aunt's Merlin Book, Salem sneezes and the book turns to dust. Then, just a few seconds later, you can see the bookcase where Merlins Book was and it is back on the shelf where Sabrina had taken it from.
