For further confusion on her birthday, based on the episode when her birthday usually falls (2-13, 3-11, 4-12, 6-14)its can't be in either October or May...October is too early(and before Halloween, wherein season 2, Halloween came first) and May is too late. Not only that, but in episode 4-11 (Doomed) she is talking to Riley about who they are and he asks her..."What are you?" To which she replies sarcastically "Capricorn on the cusp of Aquarious." That puts her birthday in mid-January which is about midseason and matches when her birthday episodes usually fall.

I noticed that too. On the file her birthday changes from October 24th 1980 to May 06th 1979. Also in two episodes that feature Buffy's graves "Nightmares and Chosen" they both state she was born in 1981. Also on that file in "I Robot, You Jane" Buffy's status changes from sophomore to senior. Confusing or what!! I worked it out that Buffy was 16 when she arrived in suunydale and it was the year 1997 so working the maths out 81 is right.. I am pretty sad for knowing this.

I don't think the actual date is ever said, but she was born in 1981. We know this because it says so on her tombstone. :)
