Center Stage - Erik's Audition
If anyone has any little knowledge of ballet, they would know that since Erik didn't get to perform in the student workshop at the end of the year, he would not have been accepted in the American Ballet Company. The judges don't go to the ABA classes, so they would have no idea how well Erik could really dance. So in all reality, Erik would not have been accepted into the ABC.

Jonathon Reeves said that he would be making the decision to who gets picked for the company, not judges. Jonathon does know how well Erik dances; therefore, he picked him.

I don't believe there were judges at the final workshop, but there were scouts for the different companies. I'm pretty sure Jonathon did the choosing for ABA.
