Men In Black - Magic Keyboard
Magic Keyboard
In the movie, when K is (I think completing the sign up procces for J), There
is a shot that shows a 3/4 view of his back while he is typing and J is in
the forground.
If you look at his hands (K's) you will see that his hands are not touching
the keyboard but you will hear a typing noise anyway. This is so that the
text that the film makers wanted would appear on the screen.
This technique has also been used in other movies where a actor has to type
fast and get the desired text onto the computer screen.

You are correct that this is a slipup, but I think your rationale is wrong. I think he is not touching the keys so that you would not hear that sound in the audio track, because we need to hear what Will Smith says next.

I agree with PingPo - it is always a high priority to keep extraneous sounds to a minimum. I work as a TV/movie extra now and then and we are always asked to stop walking or creating any sound the moment we are out of camera range so as to minimize the background noise - and sometimes even when on camera we pretend do things (like talk on the phone or with other extras) in an effort to minimize sounds.
