Fast forward to the scene where Brian and Tim are outside the bar after graduation. Brian is talking to Jenn, when Tim comes up behind him and soaks him with the hose. Brian is obviously drenched from head to toe, but then they run to the fire scene (I'm assuming within walking distance) and look at Brian. His uniform is completely dry, and so is his hair.
