Mattimeo (Jean Jacques) - Locked Out?
In the book Mattimeo, go to the part where Cornflower, Mrs. Churchmouse, and Rollo get kidnapped by General Ironbeak. In the beginning, it says that John Churchmouse didn't like sleeping in the Great Hall, but Mrs. Churchmouse liked the company. It also said that Mrs. Churchmouse, Cornflower, and Rollo were helping in the kitchen. Later on in the story, it is discovered that Mrs. Churchmouse, Cornflower, and baby Rollo were kidnapped and locked out the night before. If they were locked out, how could they have been helping in the kitchen?

Read the book again. They are mentioned helping in the kitchen before they were locked out and then they were thought to be helping in the kitchen afterwards. And yes, his first name is Brian.

Isn't the author of the Redwall series's first name Brian not Jean?

I would guess it's because in an Abbey, you've got a bunch of different buildings and the buildings the Abbeyites were holed up in was separate from the kitchens. I'm not too sure; it's been a while since I read Mattimeo (worst and longest book in the series). Besides, there are more than a few errors in Bring Jacques' books (yes, his name is Brian), especially in the more recent ones. He churns out one 500-page Redwall novel a year; not a lot of time for drafting, editing and proofreading.
