Elle is teaching the bend and snap to Paulette. They are just getting into it when Paulette is on Elle's left side, the very next shot (1/2 second later) is Elle pulling Paulette on by her left arm over to the African-American woman who happens to do it perfectly.

If this was to go correctly then Paulette would have been on Elle's right side the whole time.
