Where the Heart Is - Mixed Up Dates
When Novalee first goes to the Wal- Mart, she encounters Moses. He tells her that he is there the first Friday of every month. Later in the movie, when Forny and Novalee pick up a Christmas tree, he says that Americus was born July 5. While Novalee was in the hospital a reporter interviews her and asks how long she had been living in the Wal- mart. She says about 6 weeks. This just doesn't add up because if Moses had been there on the first friday, even if it was the first of the month, and she lived there for six weeks, how could Americus be born on July fifth?

I see what you are saying. Since he is only there on the first friday of every month, obviously when she encountered him, it was the first friday of that month. Six weeks later, even approximately, would make Americus born somewhere around the middle of the month. Good catch, but I don't think they were trying to be that picky when they were editing. Nobody would have noticed if you hadn't caught it.

I see what you mean, but maybe Novalee didn't realize how long she had been there. Maybe she was there for 4 weeks, or 8 weeks, and didn't realize how much time had passed.

First of all, she said ABOUT 6 weeks, so it doesn't give an exact period of time. Second of all, how do you know the actual date of the first Friday of he moth was, and how do you know what day (such as Moday, Tuesday, Wednesday, etc.) July 5th was?
