Hmm... Maybe the captain said it to somebody who wasn't familiar at ships? So that they should understand it... Weak spot, I know, but it's a possibility?

Corridor, Passageway does it really matter that much. If someone is injured don't you think he'd forget about the lingo of captains. Besides it's not a slipup anyway because it is possible for him to be able to say corridor.
