Ender's Game - Commanders
When Ender finds out that he has been promoted to commander, he wonders what army he will be given command of. Ender specifically says that he will not be given command of phoenix army because no commander is promoted to their own army. However, in the next few chapters we find out that Dink Meeker has succeeded Rose De Nose to take command of rat army. I know its pretty minor; but every time I read the book I catch it.

Actually, those chapters cover a fair bit of time. With the trading of soldiers that went on I always assumed that Dink was not in Rat at the time of the promotion.

I noticed this too, but Dink kept refusing his promotions. Perhaps he told the teachers that the only way he would take the promotion was if he stayed in Rat army. If the teachers wanted him as a commander that badly they might have given in to him. It probably wasn't a big deal in their eyes.

I always thought that was weird because Dink had said before that he had been promoted twice, but refused to do anything with it. So for him to become commander in really strange to me. Maybe he changed his mind, but I doubt it.
