Time Storm (Gordon R Dickson) - Entropy, Backwards?
All throughout the book, Dickson talks about how entropy (The disorder of a system) DECREASES as time goes on. This was his explanation for why the "time storm" was happening. He said that the problem was that there were small but numerous regions of space where entropy increased instead of decreasing as it should. The natural decrease running into the unnatural increase was causing the fabric of space to tear, he said.
But disorder actually INCREASES with time. Increasing disorder is natural, decreasing disorder is unnatural. He obviously just got the two mixed up in his head, and wrote the entire book with this incorrect perception of entropy. The whole book is backwards.
...And yeah, I know that this sounds nitpicky, but if you think about it, this is sort of like getting gravity mixed up and saying that it makes things fall up instead of down. Dickson was trying to make his book sound all extra scientific and stuff, but he got it completely backwards.

Josho, the most logical person on earth writes:
In open systems, such as space and planets, entropy does decrease and order does increase, only in closed systems, like the human body and man made objects does entropy increase or exist. This is why each human dies and each car will break down, but society evolves, species form, as well as stars and planets. Individual, "closed" systems, by the natural motion of atoms, break down. But as anyone knows, order increases in "open" systems because the natural motion of atoms creates a greater order of molecules that in turn form larger and larger bonds where entropy tries to break things down "The Octet Rule" and the four interactions of the universe, strong and weak nuclear forces, gravity and electromagnetism cause order to increase. By the way if entropy did increase more throughout time, then how could complex elements form from less complex elements, i.e., how could anything that is more ordered than that which was first created exist? And if you don't believe in the big bang and you are religious how do you explain God creating anything, by your entropic logic, God could only destroy not create.
