Last comment is correct, I just watched the movie, crow drops the ring on Erics Head stone, Sarah picks it up and says "Thanks"

If I remember correctly, the ring hits the gravestone and she picks it up. Its been a few months since I have seen the movie, but I think thats how it happens.
